Make them visible!
James Clear, in his book Atomic Habits, talks about making good habits visible. Once they are visible they are easy to adapt.
I thought about how we could make this applicable to improve food habits. We all want to eat, drink and stay healthy, but some of our actions go haywire due to lack of availability, laziness or procrastination.
Here are some pointers to make these habits visible and hopefully easy to adapt.
- Keep water bottles in places where you often sit for work or keep one filled with water in each room.
- Keep khajur, raisins, chikkis
or jaggery cubes next to the chocolates in the fridge. - Keep roasted snacks or dry fruits next to your study or work table.
- Fruits should be visible on the dining table or next to the favorite binge-watching corner of the house.
- Beverages like kokum sherbet, Nimbu paani, and chaas (buttermilk) should be ready in the beverages section to help us avoid drinking carbonated drinks.
